An Ode to A Dream Home
In one way or another, we all have a picture in our heads of our dream home. Maybe it’s crystal clear, or maybe you just have some ideas. Here you’ll find one woman’s ode to just a few of the pieces she hopes to one day fill her space with. Then, let us know what makes your house truly feel like home!
A Millennial Pink Smeg Refrigerator
Is it practical to purchase a $2,000 Millennial pink refrigerator just because I love a vintage aesthetic? No. Does that make me want one any less? NOPE. I love you, Smeg. I love you especially, Smeg Full Size Refrigerator in Pink. Someday I’ll print and hang a photo of you on my more practical fridge.
A Clawfoot Tub
Someone once told me that clawfoot tubs are hard to take care of. I don’t remember who said that or why, so I’m going to pretend I never heard it, and will seek out the clawfoot bath tub of my dreams. One day I will lounge in a clawfoot tub, a glass of prosecco in hand and a face mask slathered on my face LIKE THE CLASSY LADY I AM.
Open Kitchen Shelving
Listen, realistically I know that open shelving in the kitchen of a woman who is a bit of a pack rat when it comes to Tupperware and other kitchen accoutrement doesn’t make a ton of sense. But it’s so PRETTY. And, if we’re being totally honest here―I want my house to scream “I bought this at Anthropologie” (even if I 100-percent did not), like many of my fellow Millennials.
A Library
There is no better use of an extra room than a full four walls featuring built-in bookshelves. I will stand by this sentiment forever. Finally, a place to properly store the stacks of books currently piling up around my apartment. Bonus points for a trendy, color-coded storage system.
“The Chair”
About a year ago, a pretty reasonably priced, dusty rose, mid-century modern-style velvet chair went viral. I’ve kept that chair in my Amazon cart ever since, now and again considering purchasing a set to use around my dining room table. Maybe I’ll start building my dream space one pink velvet chair at a time…
