It’s the most wonderful time of the year! We’re big fall fans here at Agent Matchmaker. In order to squeeze as much seasonal goodness as possible out of the next two months, we’ve put together a list of a few of our autumnal must-dos. Enjoy!
- Drink a cup of cider and eat an apple fritter for breakfast.
- Take a trip to a local pumpkin patch—the kind where they let you cut the pumpkin off the vine yourself.
- Have a classic horror movie marathon! Even if you’re too much of a scaredy cat for modern horror (same!), some of the classic, black and white horror films can be fun! And if you really prefer treats to tricks, family-friendly classics like “Hocus Pocus” are always a must-watch this time of year.
- Research a few local hauntings and unexplained occurrences in your town and take yourself on a ghost tour. It’s so fun to learn the lore of your own home!
- Curl up with a cozy blanket and a classic Stephen King or Shirley Jackson novel. Spend an entire day reading. Light some scented candles for extra autumnal ambiance.
- Carve (or paint) a pumpkin! The big debate: is this to be done on Halloween night, or earlier in the month of October?
- Build a bonfire. Roast plenty of s’mores. Spend time with loved ones, enjoying a crisp autumn night. Ghost stories optional.
- Volunteer in your community. Give thanks by helping those less fortunate than yourself. There is no better way to get in the spirit of the season than by making a positive difference.
- Set a $5-10 budget and go wild in the seasonal dollar section at Target. Who knows what you’ll end up with, but you’ll have tons of fun browsing.
- Bake a family recipe from scratch. If you don’t know any classic family recipes, ask an older family member to teach you—or start your own tradition and teach yourself to bake a favorite sweet treat!
